Friday night's game against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp was postponed for inclement weather. It is being made up as part of a single-admission doubleheader on Saturday, August 8 — two seven-inning games at Gwinnett Field, first pitch 3:30pm.
That creates a problem. The 9-9-9 Challenge was written against a nine-inning ballgame. A doubleheader hands over fourteen innings, and stretching nine hot dogs and nine beers across fourteen innings is not the punishment anyone agreed to. It is a loophole.
The ruling The loophole is declined.
Sax will complete all nine hot dogs and all nine beers within nine innings of baseball — the full seven innings of Game 1, plus the first two innings of Game 2. Every number on this page is paced against that commitment.
Innings ten through fourteen are not a grace period. They are witnesses.
